Loud Valley: “Daytona Beach”

Posted on: May 15th, 2011 by Matt Gilles

Perhaps there is a place that we all go to die- perhaps it is somewhere that we feel that we’ve never left.

While I have never been to Daytona Beach, Floridian longingly-into-the-sunset gazers Loud Valley certainly seem to have been there and back again. A melancholy symphony of carefree vocal harmonies carries me somewhere between my current shambled self and the golden images of youth, refracted onto an inner retina. Back to the infinite summer when we were young, wild, and carefree. Loud Valley slowly cracks a leathery smile, pupils beaming in bittersweet dilation

…and I will grow old.

Start off the summer today with Loud Valley’s self-titled debut, soon to be out on Electric Kittyland. Also, thanks to Drinking from a Hose‘s Kara Kibner for bending space time to take us back to the summer of 1982.
